Yep, smack dab in the Ontario Bible belt – Amish / Mennonite country. Much of my time growing up I was raised by a single parent who had to work a lot to make ends meet. As a result I had to do a lot for my self when I was young.

I first started cooking when I was around seven or so. I learned to make boxed mac and cheese or to warm up a can of soup out of necessity. No one was really around to cook for us. Wow, reading back on this my childhood sounds neglectful. Really, I never felt neglected, only loved. My mom did everything she could do for us and still hold down her job. For all she put into our lives I am extremely grateful.

So what qualifies me to write this blog? Not much really. About the only formal training I have had in cooking was the required home economics courses I was required to take in high school. Most of m,y training was trial and error, learning what tasted good and what just didn’t work together. All I can say is the food presented has been tried, tested and approved by the people closest to me – my family. While this page is really a place for me to write things down – a place to record the food I make so I can remember how to make it again, it is also a place I m happy to share with you.

Eat to live!

Notes and appreciations: All photos on the pages of this blog are my own taken after making the recipe presented. That is, all but one. A big shout out and thank you to my sister-ion-law, Linda Henderson, for the image of me above. Also a huge wave of gratitude to Bill Campbell of Skyway Weest Internet Solutions for giving me this space to pursue my hobby. All recipes are my own take on other recipes I have tried. There are some exceptions. Where they occur, I have credited appropriately.

Miscellaneous Ramblings
BBQ Log

I was born in Stratford Ontario Canada back in the 60’s.
